Notes from the Greens Committee
Develop good "be kind to the grass" habits to minimize wear
and tear and to
promote a healthier grass.
Develop good "be kind to the grass" habits to minimize wear and tear
and to promote a healthier grass.
No short cuts across the greens to prevent transfer of weed seeds and
fungus, and added patterned wear.
Place bowls on green. Avoid dropping bowls to prevent spot compaction,
dents, and bad end rinks.
Avoid placing the mat in the same exact spot end after end. Move the mat
up and down the centerline (i.e.: 7', 9', 11', 13', 15' and repeat) to prevent
wear on grass and compaction of sand/soil, smothering the grass; use
textured side of mat down for air circulation.
Pick up and move the mat to adjust position. Do not kick it into place to
avoid scrubbing the grass, increasing wear and abuse.
Wear proper shoes with no heel or tread to prevent increased wear and
compaction of the greens.
Bend knees and roll bowls. Avoid bouncing or "dumping" bowls to prevent
spot compaction, dents, and bad end rinks.
